Suzanne from Québec, Canada: I am 42 and have many aches and pain all over my body due to working in an office sitting down all day, and have been living with extra stress these past 10 years. Most of my pain is in the keens, hips, back and neck. My needs are to lose weights, tone and strengthen my body and reduce stress. Which DVDs would you recommend for me, I am a bit hesitant in which ones to buy.
Susan: I know that yoga can help to relieve your aches and pains…although maybe bring up a few new ones…the GOOD kind!
I’d suggest you begin with my Sitting Fit DVD. It’s all done in a chair and you can even do it at your desk. Its a great place to start to have a “conversation” with your body, discover exactly where you need more flexibility, more strength and relieve tension.
Once you feel comfortable with Sitting Fit, you can try out the Yoga for the Young at Heart DVD (Basic Series 1) for a more traditional yoga class. We also have a wonderful audio-only program, available as MP3 downloads, called YogaBits: Chair Yoga on-the-Go. It is created for listening only, which sometimes these can be more convenient.
Just remember to be loving and gentle with yourself. Honor your limits and breathe. Yoga shouldn’t hurt. It should feel like a yummy stretch.
