Armarell: I had a stroke 20-some years ago and it paralyzed my left side. I cannot use my left arm and have limited movement on leg my balance is way out of wack. Is armchair yoga for me? I’m on a fixed income so cannot afford to spend too much.
Susan: I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had a stroke, but yoga can certainly help to encourage your body to come into balance.
The Sitting Fit Anytime DVD would be a very good place for you to begin a yoga practice. Begin slowly and gently. Do only what you can do and be compassionate with yourself. Honor your limitations and adapt the poses for your level of ability. Don’t be afraid to be creative! If you do a yoga practice two or three times a week, I’m sure you’ll notice improvement in your physical abilities.
